Getting started with BringMeHome, the QR and NFC ID tag for dogs and cats

The questions people ask most: setting up a profile for your dog or cat, how the QR and NFC ID tags work, and what to do if you're the one who's found somebody's pet.

How do I create a dog profile?

Create a free account, sign in and choose "Add dog" in your dashboard. Fill in the name, photo and other details. For each field you decide whether it should be publicly visible.

Where do I get a tag?

You can generate a QR code from your dashboard and print it on your own pendant or attach it to the collar. We will also offer ready-made, durable tags in the future.

How do I link a tag to my dog?

The QR code generated in your dashboard is tied to a specific dog profile. When scanned, it leads straight to that dog's public page.

How does scanning work?

The finder points their phone camera at the QR code or taps the phone on the NFC tag. The dog's profile page opens right away in the browser -- no app and no sign-in needed.

I found someone else's dog -- what should I do?

Scan the tag on the collar. You'll see the dog's profile and ways to contact the owner: phone, SMS or a message through the page. You can also voluntarily share your location so the owner can reach you faster.

Who can see my data?

Only what you mark as public. For each field (phone, email, breed, description) you decide separately whether it is visible to a finder.

How do I mark my dog as lost?

In your dashboard, change the dog's status to "lost". The public profile then highlights that the dog is being searched for, drawing the finder's attention.

How do I delete my account and data?

You can delete your account from the settings. After deletion, your data is removed or anonymised in line with the Privacy Policy.
